Re: One for Craig

Well, golly. Things appear to have gotten just a little bit out of hand here...

They're a little hard to read, but in order of ... application, I believe they are...
no rap, no smooth jazz, classical only, bluegrass is okay, and just say no to 4/4.

What's sort of funny is that someone is probably going to come along and put some metal into the microwave, and it'll blow the thing up, and they'll say, "But there was no sign saying not to put metal into it!"

Yes, only sort of funny.

Hmmm.... perhaps I should remove some stickers....

Let the Stopping Never End...

12-Mar-2011

Shana and Victoria came north to relax and celebrate Vic's birthday this weekend. They had a good party at Merman Josh's on Thursday night, and then came to Santa Cruz to visit Merman Paul and other north bay friends. When I finally got them to hurry up and relax, we went downtown where the usual Shogun visit did not disappoint. And neither did the (also usual) spot of whiskey at Rosie's afterward.

In the morning, despite my very strong pleas to drive downtown, Shana and Vic would not hear of it, and forced me onto a bike to go to breakfast. It sort of put me in a bit of a funk, but I eventually got over it.

We, of course, rode the bike path....

... to The Bagelry (where we stopped - and where Lynne joined us) and pretty much had Moxies all around. Mmmm.... Moxies.

Then we rode to the railroad trestle at the river mouth (where we stopped) and chatted a bit. And they we rode out to the wharf (where we stopped) and watched the sea lions, otters, and gulls in a little episode of animal planet.

And it was here that we decided that the stopping should never end. Some serious relaxation was occurring, and if the stopping didn't end, we just knew the relaxation would last.

So we rode back up the path into town to Lulus at the octagon (where we stopped) for a cup of coffee. Another cup of coffee. Did you want to stop on the way to coffee to get some coffee? Coffee's good, we can get a cup of coffee to get to the next stop. For coffee.

And it was here that the stopping did its best work as happiness was achieved in every cell of Vic's body.

Nice work happiness.

Bonnie, Walter and Dorothy wait for us outside Lulu's
with a flowing plum (I think) in the background.

But alas... the stopping *did* have to come to an end. At least I knew that they would have one more relaxing stop on their trip... yes, Highway 1 through Santa Barbara was sure to keep them stopped in one place for an hour at least... (despite any photographic evidence to the contrary).

Nice to see you two!

One For Craig

So... the other day I walked into the coffee/lunch station, and there was a new microwave. Now, some of our microwaves are also convection ovens, and you can put anything (for example, metal) into them, but this one is an old style microwave only. So they wanted to warn people.

So they went and put a big sticker on it that said NO METAL!

But that somehow seemed wrong to me, so .....

Ummm... I, uhhh... really have no idea who might, um, possibly have, um, done this. Um, really.

Love you, bro.

Ahh, the weekend...

5-Mar-2011

It was definitely the weekend. At least Saturday was anyway. Beautiful day.... no rain! Niiice. Got in a killer 25mi mountain bike ride with Mikey B. Rode down in Fort Ord where the trails were in great shape.

The orange line is the route that we rode... We started up there in the top left and did a big loop and ... ended up back there in the top left. Monterey is a little way off the map down to the bottom left, and Salinas is a little way off the map to the top right. Some really fun singletrack out there. Not much in the way of downhill, but as I said in an earlier post, lot's of nice trails when the ground is a little damp and packed down from the rain.

And then Saturday night, went over to Christian's house to celebrate Brian (I don't call you Brain because I think you're stupid) Price (I don't call you Brain because I think you're particularly smart either)'s birthday. Played guitar for the first time together in a long time. Very fun. Must do more, boys!

On the far left is Don, then Brian, Christian, Lynne, and Matt with the beats. My guitar is sitting right there in the middle. Brian, Christian and I were all on guitar, Lynne was on vocals, and Don was on .... ukulele. You know, you'd actually be pretty surprised at how good Zeppelin sounds on the ukulele.... Anyway, a great day.

Sunday, on the other hand, wasn't so weekend-y... it was mostly spent in the house trying to clean up a bit. I've made some progress, and now my house is merely a complete pigsty, and not... um .... what it was before.
